Description

The Rules of Court 2012 came into effect on 1 August 2012, replacing the 1980 Rules of the High Court and the 1980 Subordinate Courts Rules. In 2020, the Covid-19 pandemic threw a spanner in the works, impacting various industries and sectors of the economy including the legal profession. This brought upon significant changes to portions of the previous rules of court to mitigate issues of backlog cases and to embrace the adoption of technology in the new norm as a permanent feature in the administration of justice in Malaysia.

The updated statute, amongst others, includes amendments that allow proceedings by way of remote communication technology, service of court documents by electronic filing system and the restrictions on adjournments of trials. A must have for all legal practitioners and advocates for easy and convenient reference.
